there are only two methods for healing while using blood magic (that is, using your companions or enemies as blood banks). the spells from the blood mage tree are quite powerful.
this means that compared to the typical high willpower alternatives, a blood mage will be more durable and can afford to pump more magic. blood mages can (and should) skip willpower, investing into constitution instead. blood magic allows sustains to be held without impacting the casting pool
