Unfortunately, there was little they could do on the GameCube version. The first voice cast made the first Resident Evil feel like a B-movie and many preferred that tone to the more serious one Mikami wanted. Some fans preferred the hokey original voice acting though. 'It looks good, but it's missing cheap voice acting recorded in the 90s.'

Like George Lucas stepping back to alter his vision of Star Wars, Mikami's intent with the REmake was to bring Resident Evil closer to what he felt the series should be.

One of the changes made on the original GameCube version released in 2002 was the all-new dialog and voice acting, seeking to make the game a bit more serious than the original voice acting would allow. The game was a remaster of the GameCube version of the title, taking those updated visuals even further. Resident Evil HD Remaster brought the original Resident Evil screaming into 2015.
